2019 Alaska Harmful Algal Bloom Network Workshop Report

Members of the AHAB network convened for a workshop on Friday, February 15th ,2019. The workshop was held at the Captain Cook from 8am-4pm.

The goals of the workshop were to update current and new AHAB network members on statewide HABs research, demonstrate the AHAB data portal, and revitalize working groups within the network.

8:00 Welcome, introductions, framework for the day- Kayla Schommer, AOOS

10:30 Networking break

11:00 Data portal demonstration and discussion- BJ Stone, Axiom and Esther

Kennedy, Sitka Tribe of Alaska

11:30 “Slam Session”-short three-minute updates on HABs research around the state, TBD

12:00 Lunch (Provided)

1:30 Working group planning for the year – participants join one of the following groups:

  • Research
  • Monitoring
  • Communications and Outreach
  • Event Response

2:45 Working groups report back; full group discussion on AHAB goals for the year

4:00 Adjourn
